Vassilis Tsabropoulos
Vassilis Tabropoulos was born in Athens in 1967. He started playing the piano very early. He studied in National Conservatory and then in Paris Conservatory, in Salzburg Academy and the Juilliard Music School.
As a classical pianist he has performed with some of the most important European orchestras and has participated in festivals throughout Europe and the USA. He also took up the conductor's baton in 2006 and steadily increased his activity in that sphere. He also performs as a jazz pianist and has performed extensively in Europe and America.
His first personal album "Skyscape" was released in 1990. In 2000 he started his collaboration with ECM records, releasing the album "Achirana", with Arild Andersen on bass and John Marshall on drums.
He is Honorary President of the Sergei Rachmaninoff Greek Society and the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra of Athens.
