Dimitris Pantelias
Dimitris Pantelias was born in Athens in 1973. He studied saxophone, composition and flute at the Utrechts Conservatorium from 1998 to 2003, continueing with a master in saxophone quartets and quintets. While studying he attended classes and seminars with jazz greats such as Ernie Watts, Michael Brecker, Andy Sheppard and John Taylor.
He has collaborated with various jazz, rock, reggae and latin groups and with artists from all over the world and has performed at big festivals, such as the North Sea Jazz Festival.
His debut album “The room upstairs” was released in 2006.
In 2012 joined by bassist Marcel Kroemker and drummer Artis Orubs, he released the album “The Weaver” with Spiral Vortex Trio.
