Spilios Kastanis
Spilios Katasnis was born in a village of Arcadia. He started playing the guitar and the electric bass very early, Then he turned his interset in double bass and moved to Toronto, Canada, where he worked as a professional musician.
Upon his return to Greece, he started teaching music, organizing seminars about salsa and the role of bass in jazz. He has collaborated with many Greek musicians, such as George Kontrafouris, Dimitri Vassilakis and Costas Baltazanis. In 1999 he started to work with Evgenios Voulgaris playing songs by Constantinople composers and eastern music. From 2004 to 2012 he organized the "Cinnamon Festival", an improvised music festival.
He participated in "Songs for Kommeno" with Savina Yannatou, Floros Floridis, Evgenios Voulgaris and Günter “Baby” Sommer.
He lives in Patra where he teaches bass and organzes “Jazz Do It Jam Sessions” with Yiannis Poupoulis and Sotiris Ntouvas.
