Dimitris Karkoulias was born in Athens in 1996 and from a very young age began learning piano, as he grew up in a musical family. At the age of 19, he began taking lessons with Dimitris Kalatzis at the Athens Conservatory (2015-2019) and performing in various venues.

In 2020, he continued his studies in jazz piano in Groningen, the Netherlands, where he graduated in 2024. During his studies, he met great jazz musicians such as Jasper Soffers, Dado Moroni, Danny Grissett, David Kikoski and Peter Beets. Then he met George Kontrafouris and began playing the Hammond.

Since 2020, he has been working with various groups as a leader or sideman. He has participated in and taught at Jazz Workshops in Germany, Denmark, Barcelona, ​​Italy, the Netherlands, etc. and has performed, among others, on major stages and festivals such as Concertgebouw and JazzAhead.
