Menios Gounaris was born in Agrinio in 1983. He studied classical piano at Agrinio Conservatory and theory with Konstantinos Kotinis. From 2003 to 2006 he received jazz piano lessons at the Municipality Conservatory of Patras with Giorgos Metaxas. From 2008 to 2010 he studied jazz piano and theory with Sravros Lantsias.

During this period he formed his trio and performed in various venues in Greece. In 2011 he moved to Holland in order to continue his studied at Utrecht Conservatory with Bert van den Brink and Randal Corsen. He has collaborated with Kostis Maravegias, Kostas Livadas, Penny Baltatzi, Zoe Papadopoulou, Matoula Zamani and has performed as a pianist at theatrical plays directed by Thodoris Gonis. He is a member of the Takis Barberis Group.

His first album as a leader, with his group Flood, entitled "First Drop" was released digitally in 2020.
